Vacancy Meijers Committee – Internship (6 months, 3 days a week)

eager to dive into EU criminal, migration, asylum, privacy, non-discrimination, institutional law, the rule of law, and
EU agencies? Then the Meijers Committee is looking for you!

Who are we?
The Meijers Committee is a unique group of law professors, legal researchers, judges and attorneys working on a voluntary basis to ensure European legislation respects the rule of law and guarantees fundamental rights for
everyone. Together, we work to assess EU legislative proposals in criminal, migration and constitutional laws from the perspective of the rule of law and fundamental rights.
The Committee and its members are devoted to raising the awareness of lawyers, civil servants and politicians about the importance of the rule of law in European legislation. We provide legal analyses that identify problems in EU legislative proposals while making concrete recommendations to ensure fundamental rights and the rule of law are respected.


What will you do?
The main tasks of an intern at the Meijers Committee include:
• Conducting legal and policy research and writing draft opinions on EU and national legislative proposals, depending on your specific interest and the EU’s political agenda;
• Assisting in the preparation of Committee meetings;
• Participating in the organisation of conferences;
• Keeping track of current events at the Union and national levels;
• Liaising with stakeholders in The Hague and Brussels;
• Assisting the executive secretary and the project officer in their work.


What do you bring to the team?
• You are a Master’s student in law or you have recently obtained your diploma;
• You have an interest in EU law, especially in issues related to the rule of law, migration, asylum, privacy, non-discrimination, institutional law and fundamental rights;

• Excellent research and legal drafting skills;
• An organized and proactive attitude;
• A team player but also comfortable working independently;
