Note on the proposal for a Directive on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering and terrorist financing (COM(2013) 45 final)

While the Meijers Committee supports activities of the Union with regard to the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorist activities, the Committee is concerned that the present proposal lacks safeguards against discrimination on the basis of nationality or ethnic origin.
The Meijers Committee, therefore, suggests amending Article 16(3) of the proposal, so that safeguards against discrimination are ensured.
