Comment on steps to take towards the improvement of the transparency of Council decision making during the upcoming EU Presidency of the Federal Republic of Germany

On 1 July 2020, the Federal Republic of Germany will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In this capacity, Germany will set the Council’s decision-making agenda for six months. Given the pre-eminent importance of ensuring the transparency of European decision making, the Meijers Committee applauds this commitment. To facilitate the German Presidency’s work in this area, the Meijers Committee presents this note with six realistic proposals for improvement of the current transparency arrangements
