Comments on the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)
ETIAS is an instrument, proposed by the European Commission for “strengthening integrated border management and enhancing internal security.” The proposed ETIAS system is intended for individuals who are citizens of countries that are not under a visa requirement and who wish to travel to Europe. The Meijers Committee would like to express its concerns with regard to this proposal and recommends postponing the adoption of this proposal, allowing a prior debate on the need and management of interoperability.
