At the end of 2020, a joint investigation conducted by Bellingcat, Lighthouse Reports, Der Spiegel, ARD, and TV Asahi triggered closer scrutiny of Frontex’s role pushback operations at the Greek maritime border. This also led to a broader discussion of the agency’s obligations and its accountability more generally. In this context, a number of important questions remain unanswered.
